Sushant Singh Rajput's Case: Rhea Chakraborty's Lawyer Tells SC, 'There Are Serious Apprehension Of Bias In The Case'

The Supreme Court is today hearing the petition of actress Rhea Chakraborty requesting the transfer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case to the Mumbai police. The actress in a fresh affidavit filed with the apex court claimed that the case has been blown out of proportion and that is the ‘scapegoat of political agendas’. The 12-page document also stated that the actress is experiencing extreme trauma due to the constant sensationalisation of the case in the media.

In the hearing on Tuesday the actress has been represented by her counsel Shyam Divan who argues that, “There are serious apprehension of bias in the case, the ends of justice will be met if prayers will be allowed.” He also informed the court that a document was submitted by the Maharashtra government through the investigating officer. The details of the investigation by the Mumbai police have been submitted to the court.

Rhea’s counsel also stated that it was Mumbai Police’s perspective that the petitioner need not file and F.I.R in Patna. Shyam Divan reportedly also told the apex court that the case is being used for political ends and that the actress is entitled to fair investigation machinery and considering the political implications the request for transfer should be allowed.

As far as a CBI probe goes, Divan told the court that a CBI enquiry should only be allowed on SC’s orders and not on the request of the Bihar government, pointing out that the case was the first time a Chief Minister had to get involved in getting an F.I.R registered.
