Swara Bhasker: "Can’t even post a photo of a flower without people linking it to masturbation or referencing ungli"

It was almost three years back that Swara Bhasker appeared in Veere Di Wedding. The actress also had a scene in the film where her character was seen masturbating. The scene did cause an uproar, with a section lauding it for being groundbreaking and another segment criticising her. Now, Swara has opened up about how she has been a victim of cyberbullying, ever since Veere Di Wedding released.

Taking to her Instagram, Swara shared a part of her Twitter space conversation and wrote, “Social media is a [virtual] public space like roads & restaurants are, but the public decency and basic social etiquette maintained offline are absent online. I can’t even post a photo of a flower without people linking it to masturbation or referencing ‘ungli’ after Veere Di Wedding came out.”

She also added, “It’s ugly and amounts to cyber sexual harassment but I feel very strongly about not succumbing to online bullying or limiting my presence online because of it. We cannot cede the virtual public space to hate, bigotry and bullying.” She captioned the post as, “Speak your truth. Stand your ground.” See it here:

Sawara Bhasker is one of those actresses who is active on Twitter and doesn't shy away from expressing her opinion on the site. That also results in a troll army continuously targetting her.
