    Taapsee Pannu Feels The 'Franchise System Is On An Overdrive', Not Too Keen On Seeing Thappad Being Turned Into One

    Actress Taapsee Pannu is celebrating a year of the theatrical release of her very powerful film Thappad which was one of the rare Bollywood treats that actually managed to see a theatrical release in 2020. The Anubhav Sinha film which came to be widely appreciated for the story it was trying to tell to the performances that it showcased is a shining star in Taapsee’s filmography as an empowered actress.

    Taapsee on the Thappad clocking a year was asked how she would feel if the film was turned into a franchise that narrates empowering tales and she made her stand pretty clear on the matter. The actress while talking to Times Of India said, “I think this franchise system is on an overdrive anyway; not all films are meant to be spun into franchises. When it comes to empowering characters, a lot of women in the industry are doing it in individual films. So, we should just celebrate that in totality.”

    The answer not only reflects Taapsee’s thoughts on Thapad turning into a franchise but on elaborate film franchises in general which are cureently a popular trend in Bollywood.

    The actress is currently working on back to back films and incidentally the current film she is shooting, Doobara with Anurag Kashyap, also features her Thapad co-star Pavail Gulati.
