While theatres did reopen after the lockdown and a few films premiered on the big screen, majority of the audiences are still not ready to take the risk of stepping out amid the pandemic. As a result, in the past one year many Bollywood filmmakers decided to take a digital route to release their films. Well after the success of Vikrant Massey and Taapsee Pannu’s romantic mystery thriller Haseen Dillruba, it was reported that the latter’s next film Rashmi Rocket might also have a direct-to-digital release.

Well, according to a report shared by ETimes, Rashmi Rocket has been sold to a streaming platform for a hefty sum. An industry source was quoted saying, “‘Rashmi Rocket’ is going for a direct-to-digital release for a big 58 crores amount! This is the highest for any female-centric film we have seen that is releasing digitally. We are yet to hear more details about this one but given the content-driven landscape of the industry that we are witnessing, it looks promising.”

Directed by Akarsh Khurana, Rashmi Rocket is a sports drama which also stars Priyanshu Painyuli, Abhishek Banerjee and Shweta Tripathi in important roles. The film features Taapsee as a sprinter and to do justice to the character, the actress underwent grueling training sessions.
