Takht: After Being Put On Hold Due To COVID, Karan Johar’s Directorial Gets Permanently Shelved

One of the most popular filmmakers of the Hindi film industry, Karan Johar took the internet by storm in 2018 when he announced his multi-starrer Takht. The period drama was reportedly based in the Mughal era and followed the war between Shah Jahan’s sons Aurangzeb and Dara Shikoh, which would have been portrayed by Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh. Also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor, the film was supposed to go on floors in March 2020.

However, it was pushed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic. Well, latest reports have now revealed that the film has been permanently shelved due to creative differences. In a report shared by Bollywood Life, a source was quoted saying, “Karan Johar’s ambitious project Takht has been shelved permanently. It was put on hold due to COVID-19 earlier. However, the team developing it have been having a hard time sort their creative differences and be on the same page.”

But the source went on to add, “While Takht may not be happening, Karan Johar has been working on a love story for which he is considering Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the leads.” We are quite sad with this turn of events, but are sure that fans will be equally ecstatic to see Ranveer and Alia together again. The two won hearts with their fresh chemistry and solid performances in 2019 when they shared the screen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. They will definitely create magic on-screen once again!
