Thappad: Parvail Gulati Was Nervous Before The Slap Scene, Got It Right When Taapsee Said ‘Ghumake Laga De’

Thappad is all set to release this weekend. Right from the trailer, we had been hooked to this one that addresses the so called simple issue of a little bit of violence in relationship and discusses that it’s not that simple after all. Taapsee, in an interview, had revealed that the slap scene was shot in 7 takes. Now, actor Parvail Gulati has revealed what happened while filming the scene and how they got it right.

Talking to TOI, the actor revealed that he was super nerveous, but got it right after Taapsee said, “ghumake laga de”. He said, “I was very nervous before the scene as slapping someone isn’t the nicest thing in the world. There were too many people on the set as it was supposed to be a party scene. Everyone was trying to calm me down but I was still nervous about it. While you are already under the pressure of pulling off that scene, then are some technical aspects involved where the slap has to be from the correct angle and have the correct impact. All this took me six takes. And then Taapsee came up to me and said, ‘Just don’t think about anything. Ghumake laga de’! Finally, we got the seventh one right.”

Parvail also said that it was the first time that he met Taapsee, irectly on the sets of the film and that she is a very welcoming person. He also revealed that they bonded over the fact that they are both from Delhi. He added, “I had never met Taapsee before. I was just coming out of one film directly into another one. I was feeling a little nervous because Taapsee and Anubhav Sinha have worked together. Anubhav Sinha introduced me to her. I saw her and went to shake hands with her and she came forward and hugged me. We both are from Delhi so we bonded on that point. She is very welcoming. As she too is an outsider in this industry, she understood where I was coming from. We are very good friends now. I call her up for advice every now and then. She gets angry for calling her for everything as she wants me to make my own decisions. I ask her everything I want to know.”

We are just eagerly waiting for the film now.
