The Incarnation: Sita- Kangana starrer to be based on Sita’s life before Ram; Kareena, Deepika were never approached

When Alaukik Desai’s The Incarnation: Sita was announced, it was reported that Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor Khan have been approached to play the titular role in the ambitious project. Buzz also suggested that Bebo was dropped from the film after she allegedly demanded Rs. 12 crores, which is reportedly higher than she usually charges for a project. Well, the public got an unexpected surprise recently when makers revealed that Bollywood’s Queen Kangana Ranaut has been finalized to play Goddess Sita in The Incarnation: Sita. Writer Manoj Muntashir has now revealed that Kangana was the top choice, not Deepika or Kareena.

In an interview with Free Press Journal, the writer was quoted saying, “I am thrilled to have Kangana play Sita. She was on our priority list. Rumours were floating around about actresses like Kareena and Deepika being approached for the project, but they were not true. The Sita Devi we have sketched has various shades, and Kangana is the best cast from that point of view. Once you see the film in theatres, you won’t be able to visualise anybody in her place. We never approached other actresses and always wanted Kangana to play the title role.” He revealed that the film will not focus on the whole Ramayana, but Sita’s life as a young girl before she married Lord Ram.

When asked why Kangana is the right choice, Muntashir explained that she believes in the character of Sita. He shared that with most other actresses they would have had to explain the DNA of Sita. However, he feels Kangana is Sita. He stated, “Kangana is already there — you do not have to push her to be in that zone. She has been brought up in a certain way and is deeply spiritual. Hence, it just comes naturally to her. Also, Kangana has a strong personality, and my Sita is not shy, timid or vulnerable. She is someone who takes a stand, makes decisions. She has to be the flagbearer of Indian feminism — Sita should be a role model.”

Muntashir concluded that The Incarnation: Sita will define their careers. Well, we can’t wait to see how beautifully it turns out!
