The Intern: Makers Look For Another Actor To Play Rishi Kapoor’s Role; Deepika To Begin Shooting Next Year

Back in January this year, late superstar Rishi Kapoor and Bollywood’s reigning queen Deepika Padukone announced that they are all set to reunite on the big screen with a special film. Indian adaptation of Nancy Meyers’ 2015 super hit The Intern, the film would feature Deepika as the character portrayed by Anne Hathaway in the original whereas Rishi would have taken on the role of the intern played by Robert De Niro.

Well, latest reports suggest that makers are now looking for another veteran actor to play Rishi ji’s role after the superstar’s sudden demise in April this year. A report in Mumbai Mirror states that the adaptation of the Hollywood comedy drama is currently in the pre-production stage and Deepika is expected to begin shooting by mid next year. The actress is currently busy with Shakun Batra’s untitled next, co-starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday.

Other than Shakun’s film and The Intern remake, Deepika has many other exciting projects in her kitty. She will soon share the screen with husband Ranveer Singh in Kabir Khan’s much awaited sports drama ‘83. The actress will also reunite with Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan for his comeback film Pathan, also starring John Abraham, and is expected to start work on Nag Ashwin's next with South superstar Prabhas in the first quarter of 2021.
