Upcoming South Indian Films That Can Give Bollywood A Stiff Competition In Near Future

Whether it is good content or box-office success, 2018 has been a glorious year for Bollywood. Not only had big films like Padmaavat and Sanju has earned big bucks, but small budget films like Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Raazi, Stree and of course Badhaai Ho have also sent the cash registers ringing at the box-office.

Apart from the colossal disappointment called Thugs of Hindostan, Bollywood is all set to bring the year 2018 to a thundering close with big releases like Zero and Simmba. However, it is not just Bollywood who is looking at big ticket films, other regional industries are also coming up with films that can give a stiff competition to big Bollywood films in the pipeline. Here are the ones we are talking about.

Odiyan

The Malayalam fantasy film starring megastar Mohanlal is all the rage right now. On most entertainment websites the film is topping the charts of the most awaited Indian films. The film is the directorial debut of V.A. Shrikumar Menon and would be based on the black magician Odiyan who was believed to be the ruler of nights in Kerala before electrification came into being.

K.G.F

The most expensive film of Kannada film industry till date, K.G.F. has got a lot of attention lately. The film is being directed by Prashant Neel and will have Yash, Srinidhi Shetty and Ramya Krishnan in leading roles. Made on a budget of 80 crores the film will be set in 70 and 80s and will deal with the story of oppressed leading a battle against oppressors in the centuries-old Kolar Mines of Karnataka.

Maari 2

The Tamil action comedy starring Tamil superstars Dhanush and Sai Pallavi is the sequel of 2015’s smashing hit Maari. The film is being produced by Dhanush himself under his banner Wunderbar Films and will be directed Balaji Mohan. The film might cash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero at the box-office as well.
