Actor Varun Sharma is a funny man and it reflects in his movies as well as his life anecdotes. Currently busy promoting his horror-comedy Roohi the actor shared one such story from his years growing up when mobile phones weren’t around to make dating life easy.

The actor revealed how Ekta Kapoor’s show Kasautii Zindagii Kay played a prominent role in aiding his dating life at one point of time. No, the actor was not a viewer of the daily soap, but her mother did follow the show religiously and that in turn benefitted the actor and his high school girlfriend.

Sharing the hilarious anecdote Varun told Times Of India in an interview, "There was a girl I used to like in school but that was the pre-cell phone era and we had to talk on landline phones, which was difficult when parents were around. Luckily, both her mother and mine used to watch Kasautii Zindagi Kay, so I used to call her up at that time. Soon, we had figured out the break timings so we’d know when to hang up and reconnect. That show played a huge role in my love life. But then it ended, as did my relationship.”

Varun is starring with Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor in Roohi. The trailer created a loud buzz on social media especially for Rajkummar and Varun’s spot on comic chemistry. The film is releasing in theatres in March.

After Roohi, Varun will be seen in Ranveer Singh starrer Cirkus.
