Vicky Kaushal Had Auditioned For A Role In Emraan Hasmi-Vidya Balan’s Ghanchakkar, Reveals Casting Director Turned Actor Abhishek Banerjee

Vicky Kaushal is a star in every sense of the term. The actor, who had made his debut with an impeccable performance in Masaan, had only grown through all these years and also won the National Film Awards for his performance in Uri: The Surgical Strike last year. But his journey hasn’t always been the bed of roses. He has had his own fair share of struggle, even though his father, Sham Kaushal, has worked in Bollywood for years as a famous action director. In fact, did you know that he had auditioned for Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer Ghanchakkar once.

Yes, you read that right. Vicky Kaushal had auditioned for Ghanchakkar and this trivia was given out by none other than Abhishek Banerjee, who had worked in the film as the casting director. Talking to Mirror, the Stree actor said that he knew that Vicky would be a big star in the future the moment he saw him. He was quoted saying, “When I was an associate, I auditioned him for a part in (Raj Kumar Gupta’s Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan-starrer) Ghanchakkar. Everyone was intrigued by him as he was (action director) Sham Kaushal’s son. I instantly knew that he’d become a star one day.”

In fact, he takes pride in the fact that Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi has been his ‘find’. He also said that he had auditioned Rajkummar Rao way before sharing the screen space with him in Stree. “Before sharing screen space with Rajkummar, I had tested him for a role in the 2010 film Knock Out, which was eventually played by Apoorva Lakhia.”

Well, that’s some trivia, isn’t it?
