Vicky Kaushal Steps In To Revive The Shelved Mr. Lele After Varun Dhawan's Exit, Filming To Begin This Year

Varun Dhawan’s exit from Shahshank Khaitan’s Mr. Lele seems to have turned into a ripe opportunity for actor Vicky Kaushal to put his versatility on display. The comedy which was announced last year with Varun Dhawan’s rather intriguing first look poster was shelved soon after as differences arose between the filmmaker and the actor about the script of the film.

Looks like the makers have now decided to move forward with the project without Varun Dhawan and found their new leading man actor Vicky Kaushal according to reports. The Uri star is said to have loved the script of the comedy where he will apparently be playing a spy and Shahshank is said to have made a few tweaks to the script and is planning to take the film on floors in 2021.

Last year in March the filmmaker had announced that the film was shelved for the time being, “Hi guys, here is an update on Mr. Lele. Karan, Varun and I have mutually decided to postpone the shooting of the film. Its a script we all love and am sure will revisit soon. But scheduling the film was turning out to be very tough, as the film has a solid ensemble cast and the dates were just not falling into place. I am very sure Varun and I will collaborate soon, either on Mr. Lele itself or on something new, as collaborating with him has always been the most joyful and fulfilling experience in my life,” he wrote on Twitter.

Vicky has not yet been seen in an out and out comedy and so it makes Mr. Lele a movie to look forward to by his fans. The move to revive the film came after Shahid Kapoor backed out of Yoddha which was being helmed by Shahshank and so the director decided to move forward with comedy first.

As far as the leading ladies of the film are concerned last year reports suggested Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar had been locked in for the project. It is still unknown whether they will still be a part of the project after it is revived.
