Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra lost his elder brother Vir Chopra on July 5 to Covid-19 complications. A Times of India report reveals that Vir Chopra, who worked with Vidhu Vinod Chopra on many of his films, had contracted the deadly virus in the Maldives where had traveled to during the pandemic.

Vir Chopra remained in the ICU for 21 days of H. N. Reliance hospital on returning to Mumbai and died on the evening of July 5 and was cremated by his family on July 6.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra according to the report often sought his brother’s counsel while he was working on scripts. His film Parinda was one such project where Vir Chopra’s inputs really helped the film become a Bollywood classic where he apparently told his brother after reading the first draft of the script that he didn’t like the second half. Vidhu Vinod Chopra then made changes accordingly.

The late Vir Chopra was also the creative producer for films like, Ferrari Ki Sawaari, Eklavya: The Royal Guard, Parineeta among others. He is survived by his wife Namita Nayak Chopra and son Abhay Chopra.

Our deepest condolences to the bereaved Chopra family.
