Vidya Balan opens up about dealing with failure; Says ‘Embrace it because it brings you a lesson’

Vidya Balan is one of the top actresses of the Hindi film industry today with many super hit films to her credit including No One Killed Jessica, Kahaani, The Dirty Picture and Mission Mangal along with many others. However, her journey was far from easy. When she set out to make her acting debut, she was cast for a Malayalam film opposite Mohanlal and was then signed on for 12 other projects. However, her debut film was shelved due to production issues and Vidya was blamed for it. She lost out on all other projects and was labeled as a ‘jinx’. She’s come a long way and has proven her talent and versatility time and again.

In a recent chat with ETimes, Vidya shared that she feels everything eventually works out for the best. When asked how she deals with rejection and failure today, the actress replied that if it happens, it won’t affect her in the same way it did back then. She shared, “At that point, I was just starting out. I didn't know if I had a career ahead of me. It happened with my very first film. So I felt like "shuru hone se pehle hi khatam ho gaya (It ended even before it could begin)". Now the situation is very different. Of course, it would be upsetting if a film got stopped mid-way.”

Vidya went on to add that she will deal with it in a much better way now because she has realized one cannot escape failure just as much as one can't escape success. She explained, “You have to accept and embrace it because it brings you a lesson. So learn the lesson and move forward.”

Her latest film Sherni released on Amazon Prime Video last night and we have to say, the title suits her perfectly!
