Vijay Raaz Dismissed From Vidya Balan Starrer Sherni After Molestation Charges, Producers Might Face A Loss Of Rs. 2 Crores

After being arrested in an alleged case of molestation by the Maharastra Police in Gondia, actor Vijay Raaz who was shooting for Vidya Balan starrer Sherni in Balaghat Madhya Pradesh has been chucked out of the project as the makers do not want to the film to be dragged in any kind of controversy.

According to a Dainik Bhasker report, Vijay was also made to apologise to the crew member he allegedly molested but she was not convinced with the apology and filed a complaint against him on Monday night. The same report also suggests that due to Vijay’s exit from the project the makers might have to bear a loss of Rs. 20 lakhs on a per-day basis and since he has been shooting since the first schedule of the film the losses may be as steep as Rs. 2 crores. After the actor’s arrest on Tuesday, the shooting of the film came to a standstill, the actor was, however, let out on conditional bail.

Gondia Additional Superintendent of Police Atul Kulkarni shed more light on the complaint against the Delhi Belly actor and told The Indian Express, “The woman came to us with the complaint on Monday night, saying she was molested by Vijay Raaz in a hotel where the film crew is staying. Based on her complaint, we lodged an FIR and arrested Raaz on Tuesday morning. A local court later granted him conditional bail.”

He also added that eyewitnesses from the crew have testified claiming that the accusations are true.
