Vir Das says he gave five auditions over two years for Delhi Belly, says, "We were making madness"

Vir Das dedicated a special post to Delhi Belly as the 2011 experimental action comedy completed a decade since its release. The movie which starred him, Imran Khan and Kunal Roy Kapoor as the terrific trio who get unintentionally involved in some shady business, was unabashed, refreshing and a big pivot from the kind of comedies Bollywood had seen before.

The comedian and actor took a trip down memory lane and recalled how he had to audition five times in two years to bag the part and said that him, Imran and Kunal knew that they were making ‘madness’.

Sharing a still from the film featuring him and his two co-stars, he wrote, “It was like my fifth audition for this crazy movie over two years. The first time the three of us read together. It just felt right. Eventually we joined a set with a special feeling, that we were making madness that we may never get to again. #10yearsOfDelhiBelly

Delhi Belly was bold and a departure from quintessential Bollywood in many ways. Released in both Hindi and English, the movie also had an equally crazy music album which never gets old.

Helmed by Abhinay Deo the film was produced by Aamir Khan who also starred in a special dance number for the movie.
