Vishwanathan Anand Biopic: Dhanush In Consideration To Play The Grandmaster?

Just yesterday, fans got double good news. A biopic on Vishwanathan Anand will finally unfold on the big screen after the chess champ finally gave permission for it. This would be made by none other than Aanand L. Rai, who is currently busy filming Atrangi Re. While the news was confirmed, there had been no information on who is being considered to play the lead. But now, there seems to have been some development.

If a report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, then Aanand L. Rai might have approached Dhanush to play the grandmaster in his biopic. The report mentions that Dhanush is a huge fan of Vishwanathan Anand, and he shares the same roots as the grandmaster since they are both Tamilian. The report further stated that while it is not known if the actor knows how to play chess or not, he would be able to learn it.

This isn’t unlikely since Dhanush and Aanand  L. Rai share a great bond. Dhanush stepped into Bollywood with Aanand’s film Ranjhaana and bonded like brothers. They are also working together again in Atrangi Re, where Dhanush has been cast opposite Sara Ali Khan. There has been no official confirmation about this, but we hope an official announcement is made soon.
