    Vivek Oberoi raised quite a stir on Twitter yesterday after he posted a political meme with pictures of Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Salman Khan. Needless to say that many users and celebs didn’t see the humor in the meme and criticized the actor for the post. Sonam Kapoor is currently attending the Cannes film festival called it, ‘disgusting and classless' and Vivek took her on saying she should stop overacting in movies and overreacting less on social media. The actor also maintained that he did not hurt any sentiments with his post which was meant as a joke.

    In an interview, Vivek told ANI about Sonam's comments, “...Aap apni filmon mein thoda kam overact karein aur social media pe thoda kam overreact karein (I would advise you to not overact in your films, and don’t overreact on social media). I’ve been working in women empowerment for 10 years now. I don’t think this is hurting anyone’s sentiments.”

    Overnight the actor decided to take the meme down and posted, “Sometimes what appears to be funny and harmless at first glance to one, may not be so to others. I have spent the last 10 years empowering more than 2000 underprivileged girls, I can’t even think of being disrespectful to any woman ever.”


    He followed it up with another tweet saying, “Even if one woman is offended by my reply to the meme, it calls for remedial action. Apologies tweet deleted.”


    Vivek is all set to star in the biopic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The film that has been delayed due to the Lok Sabha elections 2019 and will finally release in theatres on 24 May.
