Sanjay Leela Bhansali has left room for a whirlwind of speculations after he called off his ambitious project Inshallah, starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt, without citing any reasons. The film may not be happening but the drama surrounding it certainly refuses to die down. After a flurry of reports speculated a rift between Salman and SLB the names of actresses Daisy Shah and Waluscha De Sousa were also dragged in.

It was rumoured that Salman Khan wanted Sanjay to cast these two actresses in Inshallah and since he did not want to do so, the film was called off. As lame as that sounds it was among the many reasons that have be speculated behind the film not happening. Waluscha De Sousa who paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Fan has now confirmed that she was cast in Inshallah but definitely finds it hilarious that the film was called off because of her.

In an interview with Time Of India, Waluscha said that she was cast for an important role in Inshallah but she did not land the film because of Salman Khan. She went to further the point and added that even though she has signed up with Salman’s cast agency, it was not him that she met Bhansali through. It was rather designer and stylist Ashley Rebello who introduced her to the director. Laughing off the news that the film was called off because of her the actress said, “It is flattering and embarrassing at the same time to suggest that ‘Inshallah’ didn’t happen because of me.”

Talking about the rumours that went viral she said, “I have signed up for Salman's talent management agency but you cannot recommend anyone to Sanjay. If you know him then you will be aware of how involved and passionate he is about his casting. He picks each and every actor after putting a lot of thought into it. Even if anyone would have recommended me to him, he eventually made a decision based on his own understanding. So to imply that anyone was forcefully pushed into this project is mere hogwash!”

Waluscha also talked about her character in the now shelved film and added, “My character was that of a Muslim woman, so he even told me that I should wear an Abaya and get into the skin of the character. ‘Inshallah’ was a dream project for me simply because who wouldn’t want to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”

This, however, was not the only speculation, reports so far have also suggested that Salman wanted to change the script, while others state that Bhansali was miffed over Salman announcing a change of release date. Some optimistic reports even say that SLB will revive the project and might cast Shah Rukh Khan in place of Salman. The real reason still remains to be known but so far the film is not happening and that’s disheartening enough.
