EXCLUSIVE: When You Are A Part Of The Performing Arts, Your Life Is Bound To Be Scrutinised - Angad Bedi On The Pap Culture

The influence of the paparazzi culture has increased manifold over the years in Bollywood. Nowadays, everyone who is even distantly related to any celebrity, big or small is clicked! While going to the gym, or going to the airport, coming back from the gym to being spotted in a restaurant with others so on and so forth. Sometimes what happens is, these celebs give the information about their own whereabouts to their publicity professionals who make sure to call the paparazzi in the same location so that they are clicked and their photos are then circulated all over the internet!

Yes, you read that right! That’s what they do. But again, there are a few actor/celebs who even after doing that sort of a thing complain about the paparazzi culture! That is again duplicity at play! In an exclusive conversation with actor Angad Bedi who is quite upfront about the paparazzi, is okay with it, he sheds light on how celebs should be okay with it because that is what they have always wanted and therefore there is no reason for them to complain and frown about it!

Quipped he, “There are two things, one if you choose a field of performance whether it is sport or cinema or business where you know there is stardom around the corner; if you want the adulation and if you want people to pay for tickets and watch you on the big screen then you have to be okay with everything else. Whether it is your personal life being under scrutiny or people being inquisitive about your personal life. I think then it is all fair. You want a film amounting to Rs 200 to Rs 300 crores and then again you don’t want to share details of your personal life with your audience, it doesn’t work that way.”

Having said that, he is not okay at all about kids being clicked, he feels that they get scared by the flashlights! He contends, “As far as kids re concerned, I am not able to understand the pap culture for children. I am not being able to get it because I feel that kids become conscious and they get worried. We are trying to protect our daughter as much as possible because of that and when she is old enough to understand, she will be out of our control but we try and keep her as normal as possible. Why do they click kids’ pictures? Are the kids being celebrated in any way? I don’t know? Have they achieved anything?”

The actor feels that the paparazzi should not click photos of celebrity kids just because they sell. “As far as selling is concerned, even porn sells. You can sell whatever you want but what do the kids understand about this? DO they know which angle looks better? Do they realise whether they are wearing a proper outfit or no? Why then?”

Well, he sure does have a point there. We hope, the people, celebs and the paparazzi are reading this. For more such updates from the Tinseltown keep a close tab on Desimartini.com
