When Rishi Kapoor Admitted That Ranbir Was A Far Superior Actor Than Him; Watching Sanju Teaser Made Him Emotional

Rishi Kapoor was an expressive man and never shied away from truly saying what he felt be it on Twitter or his interviews. That said his son Ranbir Kapoor has always maintained that he had a respectful relationship with his dad and so when his parents surprised the actor with a review of his film’s trailer Sanju the young star had admitted he got emotional.

Makers Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkummar Hirani showed Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor the teaser of Sanju and Rishi was bursting with pride from the very first glimpse and even got emotional. He couldn’t believe it was Ranbir he was seeing but actually thought it was Sanjay Dutt. In the video, Rishi said, "You don't know how emotionally triggered I am right now at the point where Vinod and Raju have shown me this trailer. The first appearance of Ranbir from the jail, I thought it was Sanjay Dutt,"

The actor who has himself admitted that he never praised Ranbir before Sanju had quickly composed himself and added, "I shouldn't praise him so much. He's good and still got to improve and still got to do good work. I love you my boy."

In an interview with Firstpost, Rishi had no qualms in admitting that his son was a better actor than him, “I have seen his body of work and the kind of adulation he has. This obviously means he is far superior than me. Yeh apne maa ke pet se acting seekh kar aate hai. Ranbir is very mobile-faced, he is not just stylised and there is lot of warmth and innocence in his face.”

In the same interview back in 2018 he had said, “I am proud to say that I have never praised Ranbir but I am also proud to say that this boy has really carried the film (Sanju) on his shoulders very ably, with Vicky Kaushal and Paresh Rawal.”

Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 30 morning at 8:45 AM. The actor was admitted to the hospital after he complained of breathing difficulty. He was 67.
