When Shah Rukh Khan Confessed Anushka Sharma Told Him He Can't Act During Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi Shoot

Anushka Sharma and Shah Rukh Khan have been a hit pair since their Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi days. The film marked Anushka’s debut in the movies and she went on to act with the Bollywood star in films like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Zero. Well, while many would say that the actress bagged an opportunity of a lifetime to be in an Aditya Chopra film opposite Shah Rukh Khan, the actor once revealed in an interview he was told by her that he can’t act.

The revelation dates back to when Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was close to completing a decade and Anushka and Shah Rukh were promoting their film Jab Harry met Sejal together back in 2017. Shah Rukh told film critic Rajeev Masand in an interview that right at the beginning of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi shoot Anushka confessed to him that while he is a nice human being he cannot act.

 The actor said, “I have said this before and I’ll say this again – right in the beginning of the shoot (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi), she came up to me and said, “You can’t act”. Ask her… And I was appreciative because she can learn lines just like I do. She learns fantastic lines and she does a great job. So I was like really in love with her and the way she’d talk.”

 “Anushka was like, ‘I really like you and you’re really nice… I’ve never liked you as an actor.’ So I said, chalo yaar aisa hota hai na naye hote hai log toh shayad nervous hote hai toh shayad nervousness mein bechari ne bol dia”.

The statement went viral in no time making millions of fans wonder how a newcomer could really say such a thing and how Shah Rukh took it in a stride. Astonishing as the interview was, we are all aware of the actor’s sharp sense of humour and wit.  Well, it didn’t take long for Anushka to clarify in another interview that he was just pulling her leg and how she would never say such a thing in her life.

She had told Spotboye in a chat, “I have never said that. In my life I have never said that. He just likes to pull my leg, constantly saying that all around. But that’s not a fact at all.” 

During Zero in fact Anushka had confessed that when making her debut she was too scared to even talk to him. 

“I think Shah Rukh is definitely somebody who I value a lot in my life. He has been someone who has been extremely kind to me with my very first film. I think as a person he has also changed over the years. I feel my relationship with him has changed because now I’m more comfortable with him in talking to him. I can actually have a conversation with him,” she told PTI.

Anushka said she was “too scared” to talk to the superstar, “Anything I wanted to tell him, I’d feel (it is) so unimportant. ‘Why would I share that with him?’ Now I’m so much more comfortable,” she added.
