When Shah Rukh Khan's Mother Was Told He Would Never Be Able To Make It As An Actor As He Wasn't Good Looking Enough

Shah Rukh Khan’s fans are dying to see him back on the big screen after his self imposed break from movies after Zero. The star’s millions of dotting fans have been demanding time and again on social media that he announce his next project soon and nothing screams love quite like it, but did you know that Shah Rukh’s mother was once told he’d never be able to make it as an actor?

The Pathan actor who transformed his success on TV into an even more successful career in films over three decades ago once told a publication how he was never deterred by what his critics thought as he just wanted to act. “My mom wanted me to become an actor but three-four people from Mumbai whom we knew well told her I’d never become one because I wasn’t good-looking enough. She was hurt but it didn’t bother me because all I wanted to do was act and I assured her “main kaam karta rahunga”. At that point I wasn’t interested in films, I was doing well on stage. Then, TV happened and, 30 years later, I’m a poster boy,” Shah Rukh had told Mumbai Mirror in 2018.

“You just have to believe in what you want to do despite what others may think of you or even if you yourself feel the lack of something, material or otherwise,” he had added.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan has been invested in his next project since last year. He will be seen in Siddharth Anand’s action entertainer Pathan which also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. Several unconfirmed reports also claim that the actor will work on film with Rajkummar Hirani after wrapping up this Yash Raj Films’ project.
