Irrfan Khan’s death has come as quite a shocker to the film industry this morning as cinema mourns the loss of one of its finest. Irrfan succumbed to his disease after a two year long fight with Nuroendocrine cancer and died in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital due to a colon infection. The actor was 53.

The actor contributed all that this whole spectrum with such ease that reminds us that there will never be another like him. One of his most acclaimed performances was Mira Nair’s The Namesake which earned the actor accolades worldwide when it released in 2006.

The film had prompted Sharmila Tagore, the veteran actress Khan much admired for her body of work, to text him saying ‘Thank your parents for giving you birth.’ Irrfan played a professor in the film who migrates to The U.S. and faces challenges bringing up his first generation immigrant son in the country.
