The popularity of any star is judged by its stardom and the box office numbers. Superstar Ajith has not only set the benchmark a notch higher with his solid performances but also with his choices of the films. In recent times, Ajith has been in the news for his next mammoth release Nerkonda Paarvai that is a remake of Hindi film Pink.

Interestingly while the promos of the film look promising there have also been talks about how Ajith did this film solely because of the subject. “He did the film as a corrective measure”, director H Vinoth was quoted saying.

It is refreshing to see how such a huge star is ready to take up a film to set an example. While Tamil films are known to be loud and audiences are known to be conservative, this film produced by Boney Kapoor can be a game changer.

While it is Boney Kapoor who first started remaking Tamil films into Hindi language films, he is definitely trying to up the sensibilities down with a film that was spoken a lot about, for its theme here in Hindi Film Industry.

While Pink was a hit in Hindi, Ajith’s fandom might prove to be a winning factor in the south too. But what is great is that the makers are making no bones about the theme of the film and are promoting it for its story. While the promo had the famous Are you a virgin line, the first song is on the girls and not on Ajith which would be the case generally for a film that toplines him. There is no shying away from the fact that it is a sensitive film that talks about the change in society and the rusted mindsets.

With Ajith making this brave choice and Boney Kapoor pushing the film with his might (he wants to show the film to Mr Bachchan, he said in a recent interview), will it help change anything in the mindset of the Tamil audiences or are they actually ahead and will surprise everyone with how they can lap up a good content, only time will tell.

The film starring Shraddha Srinath, Abhirami Iyer and Andrea is slated to release in August.
