Yami Gautam On Nepotism: Not Knowing Anyone In The Industry, Without A Godfather, It Is Very Challenging

One of the most talented actresses of Bollywood, Yami Gautam made a promising debut in the Hindi film industry with Shoojit Sircar's romantic comedy-drama Vicky Donor in 2012, opposite Ayushmann Khurrana. The two won hearts with their fresh on-screen chemistry and left fans wanting more. The beauty went on to wow the audience with her spectacular performance in films such as Badlapur, Uri: The Surgical Strike, Kaabil and the most recent, Bala.

In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Yami got candid about the popular nepotism debate in the industry. Sharing that she’s not a victim and is happy about not having a filmy surname, she said, “Not knowing anyone in the industry, without a godfather, it is very challenging. I'm saying it as a matter of fact. When your film does, great but when your film doesn't do well, you don't get many options that justify your talent.”

When asked if things would have been different if she belonged to a film family, Yami shared, “You can't change the fact where I proudly come from. Hai yeh fact toh usse accept karne mein kya problem hai? Even if I feel I would have got things if I was from the industry, it's not true. No, mujhe yeh perspective nahi milti jo mere paas hai, yeh family nah milti. I wouldn't have been me and I want to be like myself only.”

Meanwhile on the work front, the actress will next share the big screen with the very talented Vikrant Massey in the upcoming romantic comedy Ginny Weds Sunny.
