Yami Gautam wanted to take her family on her honeymoon, her sister asked 'What kind of a Barajtya family film are you making?'

Yami Gautam and Aditya Dhar’s homely Himachali wedding redefined celebrity weddings and was widely lauded for its simplicity. The couple dropped pictures from their D Day in June and surprised one and all as the outside world didn’t even have a hint that they were dating. The actress has however, has now revealed that they had no plans of getting married this year and explained how the whole thing went down.

In a conversation with Film Companion, Yami revealed that she and Aditya had plans to get engaged this year but ended up getting married instead. “We were just supposed to get engaged, and then we were going to let time take its due course. But my nani was like ‘This engagement and all is not a part of our culture, so how about getting married?’ Then Aditya asked, ‘Are you ready? Shall we?’”

“And I said, ‘Yeah. Okay. Let’s do it at our home in Himachal.’ And we just went for it,” Yami added. Happy to have arrived on the decision to get married Yami further said, “We didn’t see it happening this year honestly. But as they say whenever it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. We didn’t plan it but I think it happened in the most beautiful way. This is actually what I wanted. This is who we are.”

The couple tied the knot in Himachal on June 4 but nearly two months down they haven’t found the time to plan their honeymoon yet. Both Yami and Aditya resumed work soon after getting back to Mumbai. When quizzed about their plan to take a vacation, the actress said she wanted to take both their families along.

“Honestly, my sister and everybody was asking, ‘Where will you all go?’ I said, ‘Wherever we go, you all have to come’. She said, ‘What? How ridiculous is that? What kind of a Barajtya family film are you making?’ But you know that’s who we are. We love having our families around,” the Kaabil actress said on the subject of her honeymoon.

Yami and Aditya worked together on Uri: The Surgical Strike and hit it off during the promotions of the film.
