A small-time film featuring trusted actors like Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani hit the theatres on 15^th March 2013 and went on to become one of the most loved films of the year. We are talking about none other than Jolly LLB directed by Subhash Kapoor which became one of the breakthrough films of Bollywood in 2013.

The success of the film was so inspiring that the makers decided to make a sequel, Jolly LLB 2. However, since the makers wanted to go bigger, they signed Akshay Kumar in the lead role replacing Arshad Warsi as Jagdish Tyagi a.k.a Jolly for the film.

The film made on a budget of 45 crores, turned out to be one of the most profitable films of the year 2017 which was anyway a slow year for Bollywood in terms of box-office. While Akshay Kumar films are usually a sure hit at the box-office, Jolly LLB 2 proved why he is one of the most bankable stars in the business. The film which opened at 13.20 crores was not only huge for its niche appeal, but it made a profit of 13.20 crores on the first day itself.

Thanks to Akshay Kumar’s bankability and the popularity of the first installment, the film has already sold its satellite and digital right for 45 crores, which was the cost of production, and thus its entire first collection was the profit of the film. The film later went on to collect almost 200 crores at the worldwide box-office and was one of the very few films to do in 2017.
