Bigg Boss 13 Contestants Dalljiet Kaur And Devoleena Bhattacharjee React To Liquor Shops Reopening

While the nationwide lockdown has been extended once again to help stop the spread of coronavirus in our country, many liquor shops which met the government’s conditions were reopened on 4^th May as a step to reboot the crippling economy. However, in their excitement to shop, many citizens forgot the need of the hour – social distancing! As soon as the shutters were up, people formed long queues in front of the stores, which ultimately resulted in chaos.

Sharing her opinion on the situation in a chat with Spotboye, Bigg Boss 13 contestant and TV actress Dalljiet Kaur stated that current statistics say domestic violence has increased. She is concerned because now that alcohol is available, the abuse might ‘snowball’. Dalljiet also called the crowds outside the stores ‘maddening’ and felt that reopening shops backfired. She went on to add, “Like one of the maids was saying the other day 'their husband is not worried whether dal chawal ke liye paise hain ya nahin, lekin daaru ke hone chahiye'.”

Her ex-housemate Devoleena Bhattacharjee also shared her views on the reopening of alcohol shops. The Saath Nibhaana Saathiya star felt that liquor shops should not have opened and also added that seeing the queues all over the country made it seem like there will be no tomorrow.
