Divyanka on Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2: ‘I had this feeling that Nakuul and I won’t look good onscreen together’

Soon after it was reported that Divyanka Tripathi has been approached for Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2 opposite Nakuul Mehta, the actress confirmed the news on a live session. However, she also revealed that she turned down the show after a look test as she could not relate to the character. Fans were heartbroken but they understood her reason. Well, yesterday rumors began doing the rounds which stated that it was the makers who changed their mind. It was being said that post the look test, makers felt Divyanka looked much older than Nakuul and thus decided against her. The actress has now broken her silence about these reports.

In a chat with ETimes, Divyanka stated that after being a part of the industry for so long, an actor should have the liberty to choose the project that they feel passionate about. So when she couldn’t relate to the character that she was offered, she turned it down. The Ye Hai Mohabbatein star also explained that when an actor is constantly in the news for a new project that they are being considered for, people from the industry stop offering them other work. This is why she decided to give a clarification on her live session, to convey that she is not a part of Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 2.

Divyanka was further quoted saying, “Secondly, as far as the report of me looking older than him onscreen is considered in fact I totally agree with it. Because when I was offered the show and I was proposed this idea, I was surprised after hearing about the pairing and my family also reacted the same way. They felt that we would look slightly off. But when I spoke to the show’s team over the phone, I agreed to do the look test. I felt like let’s give the look test and see how our pair actually looks on screen.” After trying it out, the actress was still not able to relate to the character. She explained that if someone else, who related to the role, portrayed the character on-screen they would do justice to the show.

“And I am sure the season 2 would be another big hit from Balaji. In fact, they should be happy that an actor is not feeling passionate and he/she is telling them in advance, that would be great for the show. So, I had this feeling that Nakuul and I won’t match or look good onscreen together. I am fine with that thought. I feel someone else who comes on board to play the female lead will do justice to the show and I had conveyed my thought across. I’ve done this personally,” concluded Divyanka.

Well, it’s good that fans will now finally get to hear both sides to the story.
