Indian Idol 12 Controversy: Sunidhi Chauhan Reveals She Parted Ways Because She Was Also Told To Praise Contestants

After Indian Idol 12’s special tribute episode to Kishore Kumar received backlash, the legend’s singer son had revealed that he did not enjoy the episode either. Singer Amit Kumar, who was the chief guest for the episode, claimed that he was asked to praise and give uplifting comments to the contestants no matter how they sang and he simply did what he was told. Well, Sunidhi Chauhan, who judged seasons 5 and 6 of the singing reality show, has now revealed that she was also asked to praise the contestants.

In an interview with ETimes, Sunidhi was quoted saying, “Not exactly this ki sabko karna hai but yes, we all were told (to praise). That was the basic thing. And so, I couldn't go on. I couldn't do what they wanted and I had to part ways. Hence, today, I am not judging any reality show.” The singer shared that this backfires on the artiste because he/she gets instant praise and recognition after their story is told and their hunger to achieve heights diminishes.

Sunidhi went on to add that some continue to work hard. She further shared, “I did 'Dil Hai Hindustani', 'The Voice' and 'Indian Idol'. I could speak the truth then. Even today i would like to say what I genuinely feel. It's up to them whether they want to have me or not.”
