Indian Idol 12: Manoj Muntashir On Amit Kumar’s Remarks

Indian Idol 12 Guest Judge Manoj Muntashir Explains Why Amit Kumar Was Asked To Give Positive Remarks

Indian Idol 12 host Aditya Narayan recently reacted to Amit Kumar’s negative remarks about the special tribute episode for his late father and legendary singer Kishore Kumar. Amit had claimed that he did not enjoy the episode and gave uplifting comments to the contestants only because he was asked to do so by the makers. Well, guest judge Manoj Muntashir has now defended the singing reality show and explained why guests are asked to give out positive reviews.

In a chat with ETimes, Manoj shared, “If Amit Kumar came out and lashed out at the show, he shouldn’t have agreed to be a part of it in the first place. He took money for being a part of the show and then criticized it.” He went on to add that he would not have done what Kumar did. In fact, if Manoj was in the latter’s place and felt uncomfortable he would have told the makers that he does not want to be a part of the show.

Manoj revealed that he was also instructed to look at the positive aspects while judging performances. He explained that the reason behind this is that when guest judges come to Indian Idol 12 and criticize every little thing about the contestants, it demotivates them. He stated, “So, the guest judges are told that they need to look at and talk about the singer’s positives too. This instruction has been given to me too. Of course, we as professional musicians have high benchmarks but we cannot weigh the kids on the same scale.”
