Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 star Mahekk Chahal reveals why she never took up ‘saas-bahu shows’

Actress Mahekk Chahal began her journey in the entertainment industry with a Telugu film before making her debut in Bollywood with Nayee Padosan. She went on to work in various films and later entered the television industry. The beauty participated in shows like Bigg Boss 5, Kahani Comedy Circus Ki and Power Couple. But since the last few years, Mahekk had been away from the limelight. She recently made her comeback with Rohit Shetty’s stunt reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 11.

In a recent chat with ETimes, the actress revealed why she was away from the small screen. Mahekk was quoted saying, “When I entered the industry only saas-bahu shows were made, now we are very lucky that with OTT coming in we are experimenting with a lot of subjects. I felt that I would not fit into that kind of fiction show. I was looking for more realistic projects, something which we see on the web. By saying this I am not putting down any TV show which is successful. In fact, if I get offered these shows now, I would take it up because now I have become mature.”

Mahekk explained, “When I entered the industry and was new, I felt that I should do only glamorous roles, item songs or films, but with time things have changed. Also, as an actor unless you don't connect to a role, you won't be able to do 100 percent justice. Maybe today as I am more experienced in the industry, I would take up a project on TV or on OTT.”
