Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi: Amar Upadhyay Was Apprehensive About Playing Mihir; Says ‘Who Knew It Would Be Such A Big Hit’

After a short break from work, the handsome and very talented Amar Upadhyay has returned to television with his new show Molkki, co-starring Priyal Mahajan. Backed by Ekta Kapoor’s production house Balaji Telefilms, the show follows the story of Purvi, who is unknowingly sold as a bride to a sarpanch twice her age. While Amar looks great as Virender Pratap Singh, we can’t help but wonder if this role will bring him as much admiration as his Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi character Mihir Virani did. He became a household name and won many hearts!

But did you know Amar was skeptical about signing Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? In a recent chat with TOI, he revealed, “When I accepted the role of Mihir, I was a little skeptical because I felt there are only women in the show and what I will get to do in it. The name itself suggests saas and bahu and there is no mention of any male, what will be my role. I was told I am the hero, but I always felt that there are so many female characters in the show like my chachi, mother, Baa, wife then an entire negative family.”

He went on to add, “So, all these things were coming into my mind. But who knew that my character Mihir Virani would be such a big hit. I just did my job with full honesty and that time also I had not seen the future. My character and the show both became successful.” Well, even after 20 long years people still love Mihir Virani.

We are sure the actor will do equally well as Virender Pratap Singh in Molkki. Good luck!
