Rahul Vaidya shares his opinion on Indian Idol 12 controversy; says ‘during our time, that show was too pure’

Singing reality show Indian Idol 12 has been in the news ever since Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar, who graced the sets as a chief guest, claimed that he was asked to give the contestants uplifting remarks, no matter what he thought of their performances. He had stated that he did not enjoy the tribute episode for his father and also revealed that he only did what he was asked to do by the makers. Many singers have come out to share their own experiences with the show after this revelation. While some felt there was nothing wrong in that, others shared that they parted ways with Indian Idol for this very reason. Rahul Vaidya, on the other hand, wonders what the big deal is.

In a chat with ETimes the singer, who emerged as the second runner up of Indian Idol season 1, shared that he is not aware of the current controversy. He feels that all the contestants are very talented, there is no denying that, but at the end of the day the show is made from an entertainment point of view. Rahul was quoted saying, “If any guest judge was asked to praise a contestant and not criticise what is the big deal in that. I don’t know why people are making such a big fuss about it.” He explained that the show will soon come to an end and a new season will begin, so all this should not be taken too seriously.

Talking about the very first season, Rahul shared, “I would like to add here during our time, during the first season that show was too pure. Neha Kakkar, who is the judge of the show, earlier was there as a contestant on the second season. Even she would agree that we would get just 2 minutes 30 seconds for our performance. We would go on stage, perform, comeback and sit. It was very pure and simple. Now things have changed as everything goes through evolution. That’s how the world functions. Today, it is also about packaging. Uss time ka alag charm tha.., aaj ki kahani alag hai.”

He further added that he would love to be a part of the show again someday. Currently, Rahul is busy with the prep of his wedding. He will be tying the knot with his girlfriend and actress Disha Parmar this week.
