Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: Shivangi Joshi-Mohsin Khan Open Up About Their Chemistry, Portraying Double Roles

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actors Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan aka Naira and Kartik are undoubtedly one of the most adored on-screen couples of the television industry. They look made for each other and their lovey-dovey sequences are the highlight of the show. While they have always maintained that they are ‘just good friends’, fans are still rooting for them to somehow end up together, just like their characters. Well Naira and Kartik, fondly known as Kaira, completed 4 years with the show this year.

In a chat with Pinkvilla, the two opened up about their much loved on-screen chemistry and ‘Kaira’. Mohsin shared, “Its been 4 years of the bond and friendship and not just with us but with the team and that is what has kept us going. Trying to be a little more creative, giving little more than 100%. I think that is what reflects on screen. When you work with a friend, we don't have inhibitions in expressing our views about a scene. We are open to suggestions and improving scenes. That works for the team.” Shivangi chimed in and stated that she is very thankful to the audience for accepting Kaira so easily from the beginning. She also called their fans ‘blessings’.

Talking about playing double roles Tina and Naira, Shivangi said it wasn’t difficult for her and she was really happy that she got to play something new. In fact, the actress felt it was a different thrill. While Mohsin didn’t exactly play a double role, his imagination did introduce us to Kartik’s imaginary twin Bhautik. When asked about the same, he said, “For playing Bhautik, I tried to take inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan's role in Amar Akbar Anthony, we tried to experiment with the look, with the way he delivered dialogues and put a little Mawali aspect to him with a good heart.”
