Asif Sheikh Says Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain Suffered 'Huge Jolt' After Shilpa Shinde's Exit: ‘We Pulled Up Our Socks’

Shilpa Shinde's exit from the popular TV comedy Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain came as huge shock for the fans a few years ago. The actress who was loved in her character as Angoori left the show following a spat with the makers. Actor Aasif Sheikh who plays one of the leads on the show now recalls how the actress’s exit came as a jolt to the show.

The actor said that the cast was determined to keep the show going despite being aware that they may witness a drop in the TRP ratings. “When Shilpa decided to quit the show, our show suffered a huge jolt. But you have to remember that the show can’t be run by a single person and especially in the television industry nobody is indispensable I feel,” Asif told TOI.

Talking about the reaction of the cast then he added, “When she quit the show we pulled up our socks and we were ready that there will be a drop in our TRP because she had a major fan following. She was doing a great job but we didn’t give up and worked harder and got the show back on track. We knew that we would get to hear comments like ‘oh we would watch the show for Shilpa now she has gone we don’t watch it’ and all.”

The actor added that despite their preparation for a setback things don’t happen that way and the show works for its entertainment value and also lauded Shubhangi Atre for picking up the slack as she replaced Shilpa on the show.

After Shilpa the second leading cast member to depart from the show has been actress Soumya Tandon who played Anita. The actress has been replaced by Neha Pendse on the show.
