Aspiring Actress Alleges Rape On Pretext Of Role In A TV Show, Lodges Complaint

While we have been concerned about the recent outbreak of coronavirus, which has turned to a pandemic, there is something more serious that is gnawing at the society and has not stopped despite many measures. It’s safety of women in the society. Every day and every minute, some woman or the other fall victim to assault. And yet again, another woman has come out alleging sexual assault in India.

An aspiring actress has now come out and filed a complaint against two men and a woman. While the men have been booked by police for rape, the woman, who is a 28-year-old from Nagpur, has been booked under charges of abetment. According to the complainant, she had met a woman in a mall in Nagpur in January who said that she could help her bag a role in serial. She had also said that a producer and a director would be present in Pune, and that the complainant should meet them.

The two women later came to Pune and stayed in a hotel room together on February 8^th. The complainant had met and was interviewed by the two men. They later came to the room that the complainant shared with the woman.  An officer from Airport Police said, “The woman said the duo demanded favours from her for the role. When she denied their offer, all three assaulted her.
