    Late TV actress Divya Bhatnagar’s marital issues have become the subject of headlines after her death since her family revealed that she was a victim of domestic abuse after questions were raised over her missing husband. Divya Bhatnagar died on 7 December and her brother has since been sharing on social media that she left behind a letter detailing how she was abused by her husband Gagan Gabru. Her friend Devoleena Bhattacharjee accused Gagan of physically torturing her said that she will expose home.  

    Divya’s brother Devashish also shared chats and messages of Divya which were a cry for help which revealed how she was regularly beaten with belts and her fingers were broken several times. Devoleena on Saturday went live to express her anger at Divya’s so-called ‘close friends’ who never stood up for her after all of this has come out in the open. The Saath Nibhana Saathiya actress called them, “useless, worthless and selfish”.

    Speaking about Divya’s case Devoleena tried to encourage women who are victims of domestic abuse to speak up and cut off from their toxic relationships. Saying it is a selfish world Devoleena revealed how Divya’s friends are nowhere to be found after her death. “I am seeing this in Divya’s case, all of her ‘so-called friends’ who spent hours at her place, would come from anywhere and seek help from her when they didn’t have a place to stay, ate with her, took money from her, whatever it was. They said they be by her side but where are all these people today? I don’t see them anywhere.”

    Talking about her role in Divya’s life she revealed that the late actress had distanced herself. “I wasn’t with Divya at the time because she had cut herself off because she knew that I will not accept her relationship with Gagan ever, because I knew he had all the wrong motives. Divya was so emotional at the time that she failed to understand and she slowly cut off all her friends. From all the people she shared this with there’s only Nidhi who spoke up rest I am not seeing anyone.”


    Devoleena also narrated a few of her own experiences of seeing domestic abuse around her while growing up and sent a message that with only some amount of confidence one can stop domestic abuse. 

    Divya Bhatnagar died due to Covid-19 complications at the age of 24. She was married for less than a year.
