Govinda Tries To Clear His Name After Differences With Nephew Krushna: 'Have Been A Scapegoat Of Defamatory Comments'

Govinda’s recent stint on the Kapil Sharma Show has reignited a family controversy after the actor’s nephew Krushna who is a big part of the show’s cast backed out from the episode featuring his uncle. Krushna went on to give a statement in the press that he did not want their differences to impact the episode and therefore he refused to be a part.

In a interview to Spotboye, Krushna said, “I love Govinda Maama a lot. And I know he loves me as much. Which is why he has the right to be upset with me. And I love him too much to face him now when things are the way they are between us. I wouldn’t able to stop my tears. So, it’s best not to do the episode. I’ve been very close to him. I’ve stayed at his home with him and his family. Jitna hi pyar hai, utni hi duree ho gayee hai (Despite our love, there is distance between us).”

Now, Govinda has issued a statement trying to clear his name of the allegations that have been levied on him by his nephew including those pertaining to him not going to the hospital to even see his twins when they were born.

A statement from the actor carried by Mid-Day says, “I read the news on the front page of a leading daily about my nephew Krushna Abhishek not performing on a popular television show as I was invited as a guest there. He chose to opt-out as he had some reservations."

"Later he went ahead and stated in the media about his belief on our relationship. This statement had defamatory comments and was issued with only a little thought. It had a snowball effect as it was voyeuristic in nature. It was erroneously alleged by Krushna that I did not go to see his twins. I along with my family went to see his twins in the hospital and met the doctor (Doctor Awasthi) and the nurse taking care of them. However, the nurse told me that the mother of the kids - Kashmira Shah never wanted any of the family members to come and see the surrogate babies,” he said.

The actor added how he has become a scapegoat of Krushna and Kashmera’s allegations, “Be it Krushna or Kashmira - I have been a scapegoat of their defamatory comments and statements against me frequently - most of them in the media and some in the shows and performances that they do."

Issues between Govinda and Krushna started in 2018 after the latter’s wife made a tweet about ‘people who dance for money’ and miffed Govinda’s wife Sunita. While Krushna tried to settle the matter by saying the tweet was about his sister Aarti Singh, Sunita later cast apprehensions on Govinda’s and her appearance on the Kapil Sharma Show last year due to Krushna’s presence igniting the matter further.
