Hina Khan Says That The TV Audience Will Reject Shows That Are Even A 'Little Progressive', Feels TV Content Won't Change

Hina Khan may not be the star of Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin 5 but the actress launching the season definitely earned the season some much needed attention after a dull season 4. The fans are upset that Hina didn’t stick around for the entire season but the actress has couched to steer clear from daily soaps to focus on her film career.

The Hacked actress also says that the TV audience is happy with the kind of show they are served on TV and that is not likely to change. In an interview with IANS Hina said that the TV audience doesn’t like to watch show that are a ‘little progressive’.

"OTT platforms are there, and I am a fan of OTT platforms. I do watch a lot of shows on OTT platforms. I don't see the content changing (in television). I don't really see that happening because people like what they watch and this is why we get ratings -- because they are happy. Is it regressive? Our show (Naagin) is completely different," she tells the agency.

The actress, however, claims that Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin is different. “People really look up to it. Since we talk about family drama on television, they have a lot of options. Even if we try to make a new show which is a little progressive about women and women empowerment, I don't think people will watch it or like it," Hina says.

After a successful stint of a decade on TV Hina has now moved on to explore other avenues and doesn’t plan on looking back. In an earlier interview, Hina had explained that she was even reluctant to do the three episodes of Naagin 5 but signed on Ekta’s request.
