Rahul Vaidya was offered to play the lead on a popular daily soap, says, "TV is something that I am not programmed to do"

Rahul Vaidya says being the runner-up on reality shows has proven to be luckier for him than emerging the winner. The singer who was a runner-up on Indian Idol years ago and on Bigg Boss 14 more recently told a leading publication that he did Bigg Boss 14 to earn fans and said losing a show didn’t really make any difference to his career.

The singer has been the talk of the town since he came of the Bigg Boss house six months ago and says he had never thought was cut out for the controversial show. Rahul told ETimes he became a part of the show last year and said, “I never thought of doing Bigg Boss because I always thought that a person like me was not made for something like that. But 2020 happened, and then COVID happened, live shows were not happening, and that is my bread and butter. That’s why I said ab kya karun, kuch nahi toh yeh karke aata hoon. And the rest is history.”

The singer has also revealed that he has been receiving several TV show offers and said he wasn’t keen on them. Rahul followed up his Bigg Boss 14 stint with Khatron Ke Khiladi 11, the adventure-based reality show which is still ongoing on TV. He had walked out of the house with plans to tie the knot with Disha Parmar but since the pandemic had delayed those plans he shot for Khatron Ke Khiladi in Cape Town. He tied the knot with Disha, who he had proposed to in the Bigg Boss house, in July.

Talking about the TV offers pouring in he said, “When you are interested in something, you work towards it. I am not working towards any acting projects, to be honest. This week itself, I got an offer for a TV show as the lead, and I said no to it. I don’t want to name the show, but it is one of the most popular TV shows. TV is something that I am not programmed to do. If there is some interesting project, where I have to shoot for 30-40 days, that is something that I am definitely open to. And if something comes my way organically, I would love to explore.”

Rahul Vaidya’s career kicked off with the first season of Indian Idol which he didn’t win despite being a fan favorite back in 2005. He followed it up with a few more reality shows and sung songs for several big Bollywood films.
