Rubina Dilaik On Quitting Shakti: “I Like To Take The Entire Responsibility Of The Show, Now It Was With Someone Else”

Rubina Dilaik had garnered a lot of appreciation for playing a transgender in Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki. She was lauded for her decision and the show had also ranked high on The TRP charts. However, it soon began to fall after a point in time. In fact, despite many plot twists and introduction of new characters, the show seemed to have reached a dead end. Then the male lead, Vivian D’Sena left. Shakti got a new boost when Rubina began playing a mother. However, she quit when this child grew up in a leap. While many thought that playing an older character was the main reason, now Rubina has opened up and clarified that it wasn’t so.

Talking to Pinkvilla, she has revealed that playing a 50 year old would have been a challenge that she would have liked to take. However, she quit because she wasn’t the lead anymore. She said, “With the pure intention of being with my show, I chose to become the guardian of a 6-year old child on the show. Now, they can't drag the story with that plot for long and they had to take a leap to show the kid grown up. Makers had no other option but to show Saumya as a mother figure to a 25-26-year-old. As an artist, it was not like it wasn't a challenge to play a 50-year-old, but in the story only if the driving seat was in my hand. I am a person who likes to take the entire responsibility of the show, now the responsibility was to be with someone else and I was only there to be seated in the adjacent seat and I could have seen it as a lavish place to be where I get a good per day but that wasn't challenging for me." She was aware since her character could not be a mother, the child could not grow up to look like her either. So she decided to leave.
