Shama Sikander Opens Up About Quitting Daily Soaps, Says, "Never Wanted To Do Regressive Shows On TV"

Shama Sikander may have earned her popularity on television but the actress has for long now distanced herself from the medium. The actress is now making waves in the OTT world and recently spoke about her decision to step away from the daily soaps calling these TV shows ‘regressive’.

The ‘Yeh Meri Life Hai’ actress who amazed her fans with her dramatic transformation after quitting daily soaps explained that as a modern girl she doesn’t see herself playing a demure bahu.

In an interview with Times Of India she said that long after quitting TV she’d still get several offers. “I used to get so many offers for saas-bahu shows. But I am a very modern girl, who's kind of a rebel, and so I don't see myself as a bahu in a TV serial. My father has brought me up like a son. I wanted to be part of action shows, or modern day stories,” said Sham.

The Bypass Road actress added, “I never wanted to do regressive shows on TV. I never wanted people to like me because I am playing the role of a demure bahu who is all the time wearing a sari. With all due respect to all the actresses doing that kind of roles, my mental frame was not like that. I am an artist who wants to do good work, the medium doesn't matter.”

Shama has been seen in web series and films of late. She did projects like Maaya, Sexaholic, Bypass Road and more on the web.
