Soha Ali Khan Admits Favouritism Exits In Bollywood: If You Want Someone To Be Celebrated, Loved, See Their Films

Kunal Khemmu’s tweet seeking equal opportunity created quite a buzz. The post came after his film Lootcase and Vidyut Jamwal’s film Khuda Hafiz were left out from a special session by Disney+ Plus Hotstar announcing the premiere of seven Bollywood films on the platform. The matter got dragged into the ongoing nepotism debate and now Kunal’s wife Soha has spoken up.

Speaking to Zoom TV, Soha spoke on nepotism and favoritism which have become trending topic on social media and said that the debate hasn’t cropped up in the past one month and is certainly not unique to just films or even the country.

Sharing her perspective she spelled out what favoritism means, “We can talk about what nepotism, favouritism means, how much right one has if they are a producer to work with the people they like or vs those who people think are deserving. Whether as an actor you've ever feel that you've got the love and respect you deserve or whether you would always feel that someone has taken something that was owed to you."

Soha who belongs to a film family also spoke about the audiences’ role and shifted some onus there. She suggests fans to show their support for stars by supporting their films, “You can't blame other people. Whenever it comes to a systemic issue, you have to see how you can make a difference. If you want someone to be celebrated, loved, buy their tickets, see their films, follow them on social media and make them that. Because we're in a democracy and of course favouritism exists and there is no point saying that it doesn't. But I believe in the powers of movies. And don't forget about it next week.”
