TMKOC Producer Asit Modi 'Hopeful' That Disha Vakani Will Return As Dayaben, Talks About Show's Recent Criticism

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma has been a top runner in the Indian TV space for a long time now. The fans of the show, however, have recently begun complaining that the quality of the show has been going down recently but producer of the show Asit Modi has a different take on these grievances.

The producer felt that the Covid-19 situation weighing on the minds of the audiences also comes in play when watching the show. “I don’t think the show and its stories have degraded. People are in so much stress that they may not find these episodes funny but I am sure when they watch it after a few months, they would have a hearty laugh. Right now, everything is just too grim around us,” Asit Modi tell The Indian Express.

Having said that he stated that the makers are open to criticism and if the audience felt they are falling short they will work hard.

The show is currently halted due to a state ordered ban on shoots after the sharp rise in Covid-19 cases. The TMKOC makers, however, have a whole bank of episodes to sustain them till early May after which a call would be taken. Unlike many TV shows they haven’t taken the production of this Sony SAB show outside Mumbai yet.

Asit also expressed hope about Disha Vakani’s return as Dayaben, who has been missing from the show since 2017. The show maker said, “Honestly, the Covid-19 situation has made things more difficult. As much as the audience, even I want Disha to return as Daya, and I am hopeful she will. All said and done, I am thankful that the audience has been giving us equal love even in her absence, which is quite a boost.”
