Vivek Dahiya Admits He Distanced Himself From TV To Get Work In Films, Says, 'People Reject The TV Actor’s Name Here'

Bollywood has famously been a tough industry to crack and for actors with a background in TV more so. Several big names from television have in the past few years admitted to facing bias while trying to find work in films. Actor Vivek Dahiya is the latest TV star to claim that he has been refused during auditions and said that rejections due to his television background really make him angry.

Vivek in an interview admits that he deliberately distanced himself from TV shows to be able to get work in films and revealed that he has been sitting idle at home for the past two years because of it.

Talking to Aaj Tak about the constant rejections he said, “I have been facing rejections for the last one year and have been facing a lot of reality ever since I started trying luck for films. People reject the TV actor’s name here. How many auditions must have been given, but the matter ends only after coming to the TV actor. Many times you get to hear from the production that you have given a good audition but your face is not fresh for the audience. The public sees you for free on TV, so why would you look at you by putting money on the silver screen. I get very angry when I am rejected for all these reasons.

Venting out further the actor added, “I left all the projects to eliminate the tag of the TV actor. I have been sitting vacant at home for the last two years. I would say that production and marketing people should think that a TV actor can pull his fans to the theatre as an audience. His fan following is so much that even his films can benefit. Well, I too am not going to give up and will definitely fulfill my dreams one day with my hard work.”

While many TV actors have similar experiences to narrate, the film industry has a few famous examples of actors who transitioned successfully to films, Shah Rukh Khan, late Suhant Singh Rajput, Prachi Desai Mrunal Thakur, Radhika Madan being a few of them.
