Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

The first song from the film Genius, ‘Tera Fitoor’ is out. A romantic track that shows the lead pair in throes of campus love is hardly impressive. The film Genius, which is being directed by Anil Sharma of the Gadar-Ek Prem Katha fame is launching two newbies in Bollywood. The film is going to be a launchpad for Utkarsh Sharma who played Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s son in Gadar and Ishita Chauhan and will hit the theatres on 24th August. Here is what we thought about the song.

Himesh Reshammiya’s Music Takes You Back In Time, Not In A Good Way

Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

The song Tera Fitoor from the film Genius has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya and it does take us back in time, unfortunately, not in a good way. The music of the song is terribly dated and even the vocals of Arijit Singh is not helping it in any way. The song reminds us why Himesh Bhai should probably accept the fact that his days in Bollywood are over and his music has long since lost touch with the present sound of Bollywood.

Poor People’s Student Of The Year

Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

The visuals of the song have a major Student Of The Year hangover. Two lovebirds roaming around in a picturesque campus and engaging in some full Bollywood style ‘nain matakka’ was clichéd even in SOTY, but in absence of Karan Johar’s gloss, and the combines charm of Sid, Alia and Varun it comes across as a poor people’s version of Student Of The Year.

    Insipid Lyrics

Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

The lyrics of the song, that compliments the music is, of course, as dated as the song itself. ‘Dekhoon jo na ek pal mai tumhe, meri baahien tadapne lagey’- really? Are we still stuck there? ‘Tera fitoor chad gaya re’- how original!

    Zero Acting Talent

Tera Fitoor From Genius Will Make You Wish That Gadar Kid Utkarsh Sharma Had Never Grown Up

The actor in the song is the same kid from Gadar Utkarsh Sharma and Ishita Chauhan is the actress who is making a debut with the film. But Utkarsh making googly eyes and copying the ‘Haule Haule Ho Jayega Pyaar’ step or Ishita Sharma trying really hard to channel Alia Bhatt from SOTY vibes is not impressing us one bit. Also, why are we still having co-ordinated choreography on the college campus in films? Weren't we over that in like 90s?
