Bollywood’s Top 5 Most Promising Actors of 2017 Reveal Their Innermost Secrets On Actors Round Table

Eminent film critic Rajeev Masand’s annual round table has finally happened, and this year’s choice of actors was a grand treat. In a rather unusually honest discussion that went over an hour, Akshay Kumar , Irrfan Khan , Ayushmann Khurrana , Varun Dhawan and Rajkummar Rao showed a new side of themselves.

Their discussion with Rajeev thankfully wasn’t a quintessential Bollywood pep talk. From Akshay to Varun, every actor, including Irrfan Khan spoke their heart out about how they feel about their early line up of work, what would they have been if not an actor, and how they despise the ‘yesmen’ of the industry who only sing praises to the most shitty roles they do.

Irrfan Khan nailed it among the five men on the table when he said, “I’m not a Khan, I’m Irrfan Khan.” Irrfan was a pleasant surprise on the show where you can see him mingling and speaking his heart out without any hesitation. He mingled a lot of Varun and Akshay, reminisced his memories of working with Akshay and what he feels about today’s directors.

Akshay was in a kick ass mood and he gave away a couple of blind items during his fun chit chat with the men. He said he’d have been a merchant navy officer or an army man if he hadn’t become an actor. He also told hilarious tales like once he was told by a director to ham a role on purpose and mix 20 percent of Rajinikanth , 30 percent of Amitabh Bachchan and 10 percent Shatrughan Sinha to the role. Akshay also confirmed the fact that his son Aarav will have to make his own way up if he ever enters Bollywood. He will not launch him.

Ayushmann was the most sporting person in the round table who modestly smiled at all accolades for Shubhmangal Saavdhan and his other works. He was consistently bullied (in good spirit) by Akshay and Varun for trying his luck with astrology, since his father is a renowned astrologer. Akshay even joked that he signed 2.O in the time of Baahubali because he has his own astrologer to consult.

Varun Dhawan managed to keep the wits high as he was the youngest man on the table. His amateur thoughts and fandom was clearly visible and an indicated that success has not got into his head. He said, “Everyone thinks I’m an idiot.”

Rajkummar Rao, the man of the year kept a low profile and only spoke sense in the entire discussion. He also revealed that since class 10-12 he had nothing else but acting on his mind. He never thought of a plan B. He also stated that his favourite dialogue from his own movie is – Wat lagta hai par ho jata hai.

Ayushmann said that his favourite dialogue is from Vicky Donor that says – Sperm se upar uthkar dekho, heart naam ki cheese hoti hai.

Varun stuck to his quintessential favourite Sweet innocent swami dialogue from Main Tera Hero . Akshay’s favourite is – Zindagi mein jeeta wahi hai, jo doosron ke liye jeeta hai.

All five actors agreed in unison that the industry lives in the moment and legacy is a thing of the past. It doesn’t exist anymore. Films that are doing well in 2017 will not be a success if made three years later.
