Teaser Of Ranbir Kapoor's Shamshera Reminded Us Of High Voltage 'Gabbars' Of Bollywood

The teaser of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera is out and all we can say is it looks really, really intense. The teaser shows a grim looking Ranbir who is ‘Karam Se Dacait… Dharam Se Azaad’ in this period drama. Produced by Yash Raj Films , the film is being directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath and Brothers fame.

We saw the teaser, and here is what we think about it.

    A Dacoit Drama

One of the most popular genres of the 1970s and 1980s, it is after a long time that Bollywood is going to come up with a drama with a dacoit at the helm. The last film on dacoits was probably Tigmangshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar 2012 but had a very different treatment. This one, however, looks like a very 70s-80s inspired high voltage drama that features a dacoit.

    A Period Drama

Here Is What We Thought About The Teaser Of Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera

By the looks of it, Shamshera looks like a proper period drama. Though nothing much is known about which period it is set in, judging by the line ‘Karam Se Dacait, Dharam Se Azaad’ we have a feeling that the film is probably set in the times of early days of Indian freedom struggle.

    Ranbir’s Look

Here Is What We Thought About The Teaser Of Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera

Although the teaser only shows his look in a glimpse, it is impressive, to say the least. With his steel anklets, spear and arrows in his hand, a bandana on his forehead, unruly windswept hair and steely gaze, Ranbir looks every bit like the ‘khunkaar daakus’ of Bollywood as we used to know them in the heydays of Bollywood dacoits.

    The Background Music

Here Is What We Thought About The Teaser Of Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera

Is it just us or is the background music sounds very akin to that of Game of Thrones? Intense, dramatic and fear-inducing, the background music of the film is adding all the right feels to the teaser.
